  • How do I book an appointment with you?

    We have multiple ways of scheduling tattoo appointments for our clients’ convenience. You can call us at the shop at 808-979-6388. You can also fill out our booking form, email us, or contact our artists directly on their Instagram page. If you are filling out a booking form, we aim to get back to you within two business days to discuss your project. Our booking form can be found by clicking this link. Please note that all appointments require a non-refundable deposit at the time of booking to secure your date and time.

  • How much do tattoos cost?

    Our artists have different price ranges and hourly rates to accommodate a broad clientele. There are a number of factors that go into pricing a tattoo, including but not limited to the tattoo size and placement, whether the work is custom or flash, color or black and grey, etc. If you are asked to come to the studio for a consultation, this is free of charge. For smaller to medium-sized tattoos, we may price by the piece. For larger projects or projects that may require multiple sittings, we charge by the hour. We understand that some tattoos may be too large or complicated to fit some clients’ budgets. We are always willing to try to work with you based on your budget to give you a great piece of art. Our studio minimum is $125. We do not offer tap-out sessions.

  • Do tattoos hurt?

    The experience of getting a tattoo is different for everyone. It can also vary depending on things like body placement and the length of the tattoo session. Hour one can feel different from hour six! Some people describe the feeling as being similar to a cat scratch; others describe it as a moderate burning sensation. We can offer numbing cream prior to your appointment if you are concerned about the feeling of a tattoo. Our experience is that the effectiveness of these options can vary by client, but may provide some relief. Artists have different opinions about the use of these products - we recommend researching these different perspectives and making an informed decision. Regardless of how you wish to prepare for the tattoo, a professional artist should be able to work with you through any discomfort, and the tattoo session should stop as soon as the client wants it to - even if the tattoo isn’t finished.

  • How should I prepare for my appointment?

    Tattoos can take several hours depending on their size and placement. We want you be as comfortable as possible during the process. Please make sure to eat a full meal before you arrive, and bring snacks if you have any dietary requirements. You should wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing. We recommend that you avoid drinking alcohol the day before and the day of your appointment.

  • Do you charge a deposit?

    We require a deposit within 48 hours of booking your appointment to reserve your day and time. Artists sometimes schedule out whole days for their clients, and they do not get paid if they do not work. Appointments are usually scheduled week s in advance, and it is not always possible to fill spots last minute. Deposits are a way of ensuring that both the artist’s and the client’s time are respected. Deposit amounts depend upon the price of the tattoo or length of the session, but generally range between $50 (minimum deposit) and 30% of the cost of the tattoo. If you have requested custom artwork, the art deposit will be folded into the total deposit amount. Drawing takes time, and we do not begin working on your drawing until the deposit has been received. It’s important to submit your deposit within the timeframe requested in order to provide you with the best artwork possible.

    Deposits are non-refundable and go toward the total cost of the tattoo at the end of your tattoo session. If your tattoo requires multiple sessions, you must submit a deposit for each session. If you need to reschedule your appointment for whatever reason, we require at least 48 hours notice in order to apply your deposit to the new appointment date. A second cancellation - regardless of notice given - will result in the forfeiture of the deposit and a new deposit will be required to make another appointment.

    If you provide less than 48 hours notice for an appointment cancelation, you will not be able to apply your deposit to a new appointment time, and another deposit will be required.

  • How should I care for my new tattoo?

    We will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions after your tattoo is finished, including an aftercare sheet that you can take home with you. You must adhere to proper tattoo aftercare in order to promote adequate healing, to preserve the color of your tattoo, and avoid any negative reactions including infection. While proper aftercare can significantly reduce the chance of infection or improper healing, getting a tattoo is never entirely risk free. Please note that all tattoo artists have their own aftercare processes and products that they recommend. Our care instructions may be different from what you’ve been told by other artists. What we all agree on is that your tattoo is an open wound and should be treated as such: the most important thing is to keep it clean while it is healing!   • Should I tip my artist?

    We do our best to make sure that your tattoo experience is as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Sometimes we even develop long term friendships with our clients. Tattooing is considered a service, and tipping can be a way of demonstrating an appreciation for our efforts toward providing you with a good experience. However of course it is up to client to determine how they wish to recognize the work that goes into the process.   • What is inclusive tattooing?

    Inclusive tattooing is an umbrella term for a particular attention to the way social and political marginality can impact the experience of tattooing and of being tattooed. Tattoos require sometimes several hours of intimate contact between the client and artist, resulting in permanent body alteration that should be affirming of one’s sense of self in the world. This requires an incredible amount of trust that should not be taken for granted. Being an artist should be a constant learning process, not only in terms of practical skills and techniques, but also relational practices and knowledges including trauma informed tattooing, body positive tattooing, dealing with aging skin, deeper skin tones, working with clients in mourning, and other ways that different forms of marginality and vulnerability might manifest as part of the tattooing experience.

  • Are you accepting apprentices?
